After more than 25 years as a road builder, Dean Drewes of rural Osage has launched his own business.

D&D excavating specializes in driveways, basements, building sites, dump truck hauling and similar jobs.

Dean and Lori Drewes are the sole owners and operators. They have been in business for about a month.

In his 25 years in the construction business, Drewes has worked for several road contractors, working mainly on county and state highways.

He has done a lot of dirt work and site work and is comfortable with all types of excavation work.

With a Mack dump truck, a Case backhoe, a Bobcat and other equipment, D&D excavating is geared up to handle all sorts of local jobs.

“Housing seems to be picking up,” Dean said.

“More people are building, remodeling, landscaping,” Lori added.

Dean said he hopes to focus on a 40 mile radius as his target market.

“We’ll try to work with people and make it as cost-effective as possible,” he said.
