Six Essentia Health St. Mary's-Detroit Lakes employees were recognized for living out Essentia's values at the employee recognition banquet held Thursday, March 23, at the Holiday Inn on the Lake.

The recipients of each award were:

• Quality—Rajit Kaushal, MD

• Hospitality—LouAnn Olsen, Patient Access Representative

• Respect—Cassie Zacharias, RN

• Justice—Melissa Leabo, Surgery Technician

• Stewardship—Jennifer Lanoux, Surgery Technician

• Teamwork—Vicki Bevins, Specialty Care Clinic Supervisor

Colleagues of the winners made the nominations. Nominations were then reviewed and selected by the Essentia Health—St. Mary's Patient and Family Council. More than 100 individuals were nominated.

As part of the award, each recipient designated a $200 contribution to a local nonprofit of their choice.

In addition to the Values Awards, employees who reached milestone years of service from five to more than 55 years of service in 2016 were recognized. Carol Moran, RN, has been with St. Mary's for 55 years.

"Our organization is blessed by having outstanding, committed staff members who have witnessed considerable change in health care," said Peter Jacobson, Essentia Health St. Mary's President. "We have counted on them to help our organization achieve its mission in the past and we look to them to lead us into the future."
