DL Newspapers hires 5

Detroit Lakes Newspapers would like to welcome five new staff members.

Pam Bauer recently joined the graphic design staff.

Bauer, originally from Barnesville, has several years of graphic design experience. She previously worked for the Fergus Falls Daily Journal and The Times in Thief River Falls.

She has a degree in commercial art from the Moorhead Technical College.

Alycia Jenson is new to the Web site staff.

Jenson is originally from Detroit Lakes and has a degree in Internet web design from Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

She previously ran her own private web design company while working part time at a gas station and designed Web sites for churches, resorts and the airport in Park Rapids.

Courtney Sinner recently joined the news staff as a reporter intern.

Sinner, originally from Brainerd, has spent many summers in Detroit Lakes with her grandparents Don and Gladys Lefebvre and George and Jane Sinner.

She is currently attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and plans on graduating this December with a degree in professional journalism.

Sinner previously interned at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and was a staff reporter for the University of Minnesota's student newspaper, the Minnesota Daily.

Sandy Stilke recently joined the special projects staff.

Stilke, originally from Park Rapids, worked in retail sales prior to working at Detroit Lakes Newspapers.

She is married with two children.

Jason Adkins was hired as a reporter. Adkins hails from Orem, Utah, where he recently graduated from Utah Valley State College. His wife, Amanda, and three children, Liam, Harrison and Molly, will join him in June.

Adkins comes from a sports reporting background, being the busiest freelancer at the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, and relishes the chance to report straight news and being able to shoot video.

He hopes he and his family will be able to cope with the winters, but they are excited about summer time.
