Indigo Signworks purchases Cook Sign Co. in Fargo

FARGO - Indigo Signworks Inc. has purchased competitor Cook Sign Co., both located in Fargo.

Indigo bought Cook Sign from Fargo-based Knight LLC, said Bernie Dardis, CEO of Indigo.

Knight LLC purchased Cook Sign in December and decided to sell the sign company to focus on its printing businesses, said Knight representative Mike Marcil.

Indigo, with North Dakota locations in Fargo, Bismarck, and Grand Forks and another at Alexandria, Minn., employs 68 people, Dardis said.

Cook Sign has about 33 employees at locations in Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks, he said.

Indigo is interviewing employees to assess individual talent and degree of job duplication, said Dardis, who previously spent 20 years with Cook Sign before joining Indigo five years ago.

"This will be a relatively seamless transition as our two companies unite," said Dardis. "We are looking forward to having many of the talented professionals from Cook join our staff."

The Marcil Group is not associated with businesses run by William C. Marcil, chairman and CEO of Forum Communications Co. The Marcil Group, which in August became part owner of Knight Printing, is a privately held company that acquires, develops and manages income-producing real estate and invests in other businesses.
