Super Service Award Winner

ACS Customer Service Representative Andy Mohn, left, is handed the Super Service Award from co-worker and Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce member, Jill Mack.

Andy Mohn has worked at ACS as a customer service representative for four years.

He knows a lot about technology, specifically cell phones.

So when an elderly couple came in with a million questions on their new phones and services, he could have rushed through the details in order to tend to the growing line behind them.

He didn't.

Mohn very patiently walked the couple through everything they needed to know until they were confident they knew what they were doing.

That is one of the stories that won Andy Mohn the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce's Super Service Award.

Members of the Chamber, along with Mohn's fellow employees, surprised him at work with the award Tuesday afternoon.

"I didn't see this coming at all," said Mohn, adding, "I really appreciate it ... it's a great honor."

The Chamber gives this award out quarterly as a way to recognize outstanding service throughout the community.

People can get nominated either through the public, co-workers or from chamber members.

The Chamber's promotional events committee then reviews the nominations and picks their favorite.

"We read the stories and look for a person with that smiley face - a helpful person who goes above and beyond their call of duty, as well as somebody who is a fun person to work with," said Chamber President Carrie Johnston.

The award is often a surprise to the recipient, but behind the scenes, it's usually a bit of a celebration in the works.

"Sometimes the family is told so they can be there, and the employers will also usually recognize the award fully so they will turn it into a real event," Johnston said.

Mohn's co-worker and Chamber member, Jill Mack, says there was more than one person who nominated this Detroit Lakes native.

"We hear compliments about him all the time."

Mohn's award earns him a plaque, $25 in Chamber Bucks, and the reputation of being a top-notch professional.

"I enjoy working with people and making them happy, and I guess it pays off," said Mohn.
