CenturyLink, Inc. brand launching service in DL area

CenturyLink, Inc., which acquired Qwest Communications April 1, is in the process of changing out the former Qwest brand in Detroit Lakes and surrounding service areas.

While initial work began in April, starting last weekend and continuing through the end of the year, most Qwest logos will be changed to the CenturyLink logo and name.

"Communities can look for changes to physical assets such as buildings, vehicles and employee uniforms.

Approximately 1,000 company vehicles in Minnesota - out of 9,000 company-wide - began receiving a new look in June, and it will continue through the end of August," according to CenturyLink spokeswoman Carrie Amann.

The vehicles seen in the Detroit Lakes area should be complete this week.

Building signage will be changed at a later date.

"Our transition to the CenturyLink brand introduces a company who has been serving customers for more than 40 years with a focus on investing in our network and in our communities," said Vice President and General Manager Erik Genrich.

Besides the brand change, the company has also introduced a local market model where decision making is made in each market.

Genrich is responsible for all of Minnesota excluding Minneapolis-St. Paul.

"This business model allows the company to maintain its focus on local markets, and on providing consumers and businesses a consistently fast broadband network to deliver advanced communications services that improve people's lives," Genrich added.

After acquiring Qwest, CenturyLink is the third largest telecommunications company in the United States, operating in 37 states and select international markets.

CenturyLink provides broadband, phone, DIRECTV and wireless services for businesses and consumers.
