One Book, One Community project includes book reading, photo contest

In partnership, the Fargo Public Library, Lake Agassiz Regional Library and West Fargo Public Library are launching an inaugural One Book One Community project in October 2012.

Join with the entire community in reading The Giver by Lois Lowry, and participating in a book discussion, a 'Splash of Red' photo contest and more.

Photo contest

The One Book, One Community project will host a photo contest from Oct. 1-25.

The theme is black and white photographs with a splash of red.

Entrants must submit photographs digitally to a participating library or e-mail your photo as an attachment to

All entries must include name, category (youth or adult), photo title and photo description.

One entry per person. Photographs must be the original work of the entrant. All submissions will appear on the FM Area One Book Flicker page and may also appear in print form in participating libraries.

Judging for both categories will be conducted by Raul Gomez, Wayne Gudmundson and John Lamb.

Winners from each category will receive a new Barnes & Noble Nook. Winners will also be featured in an editorial in the High Plains Reader.
