Students from the Lake Park Audubon Family Career and Community Leaders of America attended the 2012 Fall Leadership Summit in Brooklyn Park on Nov. 3 and 4.

Seven members and their advisor, Cheryl Hogie, listened to keynote speakers and current FCCLA National President Elliot Johnson, from South Dakota, speak about the impact that leaders can have in their local communities.

In addition, National Officer Skylar Borchardt from Litchfield shared STAR Event promotion ideas on how members can spread the word about all the great things their chapters accomplish.

Rachel's Challenge speaker Dave Gamache, encouraged students to make a personal commitment to be positive leaders in their communities and to put "kindness" as a priority in their schools.

To finish the summit, chapters planned their yearly time lines, filled out service surveys, and listened to chapters share ideas about their local projects. LP-A members attending the conference included Maegan Anderson, Emma Ulmer, Breann Hogie, Rilee Burnside, Kristen Rislund, Nellie Branchaud, and Sierra Omvig.
