Holy Rosary Cookie Walk: Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 1043 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes, will host its 27th Annual Cookie Walk from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Center. Homemade cookies and candies will be sold by the pound, as well as lefse fresh off the griddle, breakfast rolls warm from the oven, hot coffee, a silent auction — and even a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus!
Holiday Cookie Walk & Bake Sale: Bakke Lutheran Church, located six miles north of Detroit Lakes on Richwood Road (Becker County Road 21), will host a Holiday Cookie Walk & Bake Sale from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fudge, cookies, breads and more will be for sale at a cost of $6 per pound, with proceeds benefitting local church charities including Mary's Place, Lakes Crisis & Resource Center and the Detroit Lakes Ministerial Association.
Family Day at the Museum: The Becker County Museum, located at 714 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes, will be offering a full slate of holiday activities starting at 11 a.m., from Christmas cookie decorating (50 cents each) to the judging for its annual Christmas Cookie Contest (entries must be submitted by noon), as well as "Winter Harvest" author Pippi Mayfield signing copies of her new book, which details the history of ice harvesting in Becker County. Canadian Pacific Holiday Train: The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will make its annual stop in Detroit Lakes at 2:30 p.m. on Soo Avenue, between Holmes and Front streets. Featured performers this year will be Canadian artists Terri Clark, Dallas Smith and Kelly Prescott, who will be performing live on the train stage starting at 2:45 p.m. The concert is expected to last approximately half an hour; Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to distribute hot chocolate and accept donations of nonperishable food items and cash for the Becker County Food Pantry. Christmas Musical: The Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church Choir will present "Season of Rejoicing: A Christmas Musical," by Susan Callaway and Mark Cabaniss, at 8:15 and 10 a.m. The musical is directed by Diane Jordan, with Jane Ballard on piano accompaniment, Jeff Johnson, trombone, and Liz Harman and DeWayne Myhre, soloists. The church is located at 885 Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes; a Christmas tea will follow both services.

Eagles Clothing Drive: The Detroit Lakes Eagles Aerie & Auxiliary 2342 are holding a new clothing drive from now through Dec. 8. They are looking for diapers, socks, mittens, scarves and caps, infant through adult sizes, or monetary donations to purchase clothing. Drop off items or donations at the Eagles Club, 112 Holmes St. West, Detroit Lakes. The clothing will be distributed locally to those in need.
Christmas Bake Sale: Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee will host a Christmas Bake Sale from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 16 and 8 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17. There will be many different Christmas goodies including rolls, cakes, jams, breads, cookies, and much more. Come and fill your holidays with sweet treats for the whole family. Everyone is welcome.
Christmas Tree Sales: Lakes Area Young Life will be offering Christmas trees and wreaths for sale every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 17, at their lot at 1219 Washington Ave., Detroit Lakes (between Weum Chiropractic and Imholte & Dahl, CPA). Prices vary by size. Hours are 4-7 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. All proceeds support Lakes Area Young Life Ministries. Advent Mini-Concerts: First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes will host a series of Wednesday noon concerts during Advent, featuring local performers. This year's schedule starts off on Dec. 6 with Celtic harp player Tami Jenson, followed by a duo piano performance from Ginny Klein and Holly Heisserer. Vocal/guitar soloist Tim Eggebraaten will perform on Dec. 13, followed by another split concert on Dec. 20, featuring the flute/piano trio of Dotz Johnson, Carol Turner and Connie Wood as well as the First Lutheran "Alleluia Ringers" Bell Choir. All concerts start at noon in the church sanctuary, and will be followed by a (free will offering) soup and sandwich lunch in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to attend both the concert and the lunch.
