White Earth Powwow underway

The 141st annual White Earth Powwow gets underway Friday in White Earth Village at 7 p.m. with a grand entry.

The White Earth Powwow commemorates the signing of a treaty between the White Earth Nation and the federal government on June 14, 1867.

Grand entries are also scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be flag raising ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There is a couples dance on Saturday at 3 p.m., a women's jingle dance at 8 p.m. Saturday and a men's grass dance Saturday at 9:30 p.m. A men's chicken dance will be held Sunday at 4 p.m.

The powwow is open to the general public. Food and drink are available for sale.
