Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society holds its Christmas party on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. There is a square dance in Century school in Park Rapids, with a "plus" workshop from 7:30 to 8 p.m. and mainstream dancing from 8 to 10. The caller will be Myron Hollatz, and Donna will cue round dancing between trips. The club members will furnish a potluck lunch after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.
The CP Holiday Train stops at the Holmes Street crossing at 3:15 p.m. Bring a food donation for the Becker County Food Pantry.

A representative of the Greater Minnesota Regional Park and Trail Coalition will address issues connected with fairness of distribution of Parks and Trails Legacy Funds and efforts toward resolution. The discussion will center around metro versus outstate area awards.

ECFE Santa's Workshop
The Detroit Lakes Early Childhood Family Education Program invites all families with preschoolers to a free Santa's Workshop on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4:30-6 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 14, from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Lincoln Education Center. Children and their parents will make decorations and gifts, play holiday games, visit with Santa, and more. Childcare providers and grandparents are also welcome to bring children they care for. The Detroit Lakes Women of Today are helping Santa! St. Mary's Innovis Health hosts childbirth preparation classes for expectant mothers in their sixth to seventh month of pregnancy. Topics include Labor & Delivery, Cesarean Birth, Role of the Labor Companion, Newborn Care, Unexpected Outcomes, Breast & Bottle Feeding, Postpartum Period, Breathing Patterns & Relaxation Techniques. Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Call Annie at 218-847-5628 ext. 5419 to make an appointment. This one screening will provide your child the requirements for Early Childhood Screening. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.
