Senior driver safety course

A 4-hour defensive driving course for seniors will be offered from 5 to 9 p.m. at the United Community Insurance Agency, 138 West Main St., Perham (next to Lakes Cafe). Class is open to anyone wanting to maintain their 10 percent insurance discount. A second 4-hour course will be offered 1-5 p.m. on Jan. 16, and there will be an 8-hour course offered Jan. 30-31, 5-9 p.m. each day. Adventist Church open gym

The Seventh Day Adventist Church, Richwood Road, hosts a free night with open gym and volleyball and other games starting at 6 p.m. The public is invited. For more information, contact April at 849-5233.

Monday, Dec. 31

Old Timers Dance group

The Old Timers Dance Group hosts a New Year's Eve dance from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Rockin' Horse Cafe in Richville. Take Hwy 78 south of Perham to County Hwy 14 west, just over the tracks. There is no cover charge.

Friendly Squares dance

The Friendly Squares host a square dance on New Years Eve at 8 p.m. in the airport in Park Rapids. The dance will be from 8 to 10 p.m., with a potluck supper at 10 to 11 and more dancing from 11 to midnight. The caller will be Roger Lueth, and Donna Stone will cue round dancing between tips. All square dancers are invited.

The January MAC-NAPS distribution is from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Applications are available at St. Luke's church. To qualify, you must be at least 60 years old age and meet the USDA income guidelines.

Lake Park Community Ed

Lake Park Community Education offers several upcoming classes. Scrap-booking with Candi. Classes are Tuesday, Jan. 15, 22, 29, and Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fee is $30 for all 4 classes plus cost of supplies paid to Candi.

On going classes: Yoga, Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Fee is $5 per session; Zumba, Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fee is $5 per session.

L.A. Moms group

L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Moms group, you will have a chance to socialize with other moms, hear some great teaching, have discussion time and participate in creative activities. L.A. Parents Supporting Parents meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. Help and support for those who are struggling with addition among their family or friends. TOPS chapter 1251

Minnesota TOPS Chapter 1251 meets every Tuesday in the Lake Park Lutheran Church, using the west church entrance to the basement. Effective immediately weigh-ins start at noon and the meeting at 12:30 p.m. New members are always welcome.
