Snowmobile ride

ULTRA Snowmobile Club hosts a Classic Cruise of 1980s and older snowmobiles. The ride begins at 10 a.m. at the Becker County Fairgrounds and goes from DL to Vergas and back. No trail permits are needed for the ride.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Lakes Plus square dance

Lakes Plus hosts a square dance at 2 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall, 118 W. Holmes St. Detroit Lakes. Roger McNeil will call the tips. A potluck finger food lunch will be available during the dance. Visitors and spectators are welcome.

Lakes Figure Skating

Lakes Figure Skating second session registration begins Jan. 6 at the Kent Freeman arena. Beginner classes are at 5:30 p.m., intermediate at 6:15, advanced private lessons at 7 and 9:30. Lessons every Sunday evening through Feb. 24 Spring Ice Show, "Dance Party on Ice."

High Mileage Fellowship

High Mileage Fellowship meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.

Genealogical Society

Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society meetings the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. Bowman benefit

A benefit for Shanna Bowman is from 2 p.m. to midnight in Shorewood Pub, DL. Shanna has had complications from her 2002 gastric bypass. There will be a free-will dinner, silent auction, raffle tickets for events and more. Donations can also be made at any Midwest Bank location.

Winter Trails Day

Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter members of the North Country Trail Association for Winter Trails Day at Maplelag Resort. Group cross country skiing and snowshoeing begin at 1 p.m. At 3:30, Barry Babcock will discuss environmental issues and northern Minnesota ecology. Lake Country Woodcarvers

The Lake Country Woodcarvers meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the storefront next to White Drug in the Washington Square Mall. The public is invited to stop by, see examples and just visit.

LP council swearing in

The swearing in of and open house for new Lake Park mayor and council members is at 2 p.m. in the Lake Park City Center.

Author Dr. Barry L. Lane signs his book, Walk in Their Dust, at 7 p.m. in Lakes Area Vineyard Church, DL. Barry's walking partner, Niels Henriksen, will be joining Barry in the presentation to sing some of the songs he wrote.

PEO Chapter FG

P.E.O. Chapter FG meets at 9:30 a.m. in Emmanuel Nursing Home, hosted by Georgie Kershner with Mary Lee and Joyce Armstrong assisting. The program will be presented by Gothe Jensvold. Dessert will be served.

There will be an 8-hour session Jan. 30 and 31 from 5-9 p.m. both days. Open to anyone wanting to maintain 10 percent insurance discount.
