"Invasive Aquatic Species: What Are They and What Can Be Done" is offered through F/M Communiversity from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Concordia College, Moorhead. Dr. Michelle Marko will present the class, exploring the species that are in this area and those that are anticipated. She will share the latest research on controlling the organisms. Snowshoe science


Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts a snowshoe science adventure beginning at 2 p.m. Come explore the science of winter and learn how to turn your Tamarac wildlife and plant sightings into a documented observation. Become a citizen scientist using Project Noah. Bring your camera if you have one. Meet at the Pine Lake Parking Area on Cty. Hwy 29. Snowshoes for children are available for loan. Adult snowshoes are limited.

American Indian Education public hearing

The public hearing to discuss American Indian in Detroit Lakes School District has been rescheduled from Jan. 28 to today. It is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the District Administration Center. For more info, contact coordinator Joe Carrier at 847-9228.

LP-A Pops Concert

The Lake Park-Audubon High School Music Department presents 2013 Pops Concert "You Can't Stop the Beat" at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, Lake Park. It is free admission.

High Mileage Fellowship

High Mileage Fellowship meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.

Adult Spanish Club

On the 5th of each month, join the adult Spanish Club at El Loro to practice your conversation skills. Drinks are at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7.

Death by Chocolate

A night of tantalizing treats and decadent desserts! The Detroit Lakes Women of Today host a Death by Chocolate membership night beginning at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Inn, DL. It is open to all women ages 18 and older who wish to get involved and help make a difference in our community. Membership specials and prizes for new members including a haircut and style, one hour massage and a hotel and casino package.

Youth fishing derby

The Luke Gandrud Memorial Youth Fishing Derby is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in Lake Ida. Ages 15 and under are welcome. Tackle and bait is provided free of charge. There will also be free hot dogs and pop on the ice.
