19-year-old Grand Rapids man gets 5 years supervised probation in fatal car crash case
A 19-year-old Grand Rapids man has been sentenced to five years of supervised probation in connection with a fatal car accident that happened after a night of drinking.
Kyle Robert Fuller pleaded guilty in December in Itasca County District Court to aiding and abetting furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was also sentenced to the 27 days he has already spent in jail.
Under conditions of his probation, Fuller must pay a fine, attend a Mother's Against Drunk Drivers panel, and undergo a chemical dependency evaluation. He's also banned from using alcohol and drugs.
Christy Lynn Laney died in the crash on August 6. The 18-year-old was in the back seat of a vehicle that rolled over on County Road 61 in Itasca County. Fuller and the other three people in the car survived.
