2 people injured in Thursday crash in Detroit Lakes
An accident Thursday afternoon at the Highway 59 and Highway 34 intersection sent two people to the hospital.
The first accident, reported at 5:31 p.m. Thursday, occurred when a Buick LeSabre driven by Karen Kath, 56, of Detroit Lakes, that was making a left turn on Highway 59 to Highway 34, hit another vehicle.
Kath's vehicle hit a 2002 Dodge Dakota driven by Tarrin Baumgartner, 28, of Detroit Lakes, that was heading north on Highway 59.
Baumgartner and witnesses said the traffic light at the intersection was green, with Kath failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
Kath and a passenger, James Gunthorpe, of Detroit Lakes, were transported to St. Mary's Innovis via ambulance.
Baumgartner was transported to St. Mary's Innovis in a private vehicle.
Both cars sustained significant damage.
Around the same time, officials responded to a rollover accident on Highland Drive near Meadow Drive.
