Absentee balloting the highest in two decades of state primaries

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said absentee balloting in the 2010 primary is the highest in two decades. His office reported that election officials have accepted 26,211 absentee ballots as of 9:45 a.m. this morning. In-person absentee balloting continues today until 5 p.m. with the primary tomorrow, Aug. 10.

"Clearly the message is out there about the approaching early primary," Ritchie said. "I am pleased to see so many Minnesotans planning ahead to ensure their voices are heard."
