Accidents prompt Moorhead police to remind drivers to use care

MOORHEAD - Several accidents Wednesday prompted Moorhead police to remind people to use extra care when driving, because traffic is congested as temporary dikes are being removed.

With the weather warming up, police also asked motorists to watch for bicyclists and urged bikers are urged to wear helmets.

Among the accidents Wednesday:

- A 39-year-old Litchfield woman was arrested for second-degree driving under the influence after she failed to yield to another vehicle and broadsided it about 1:26 p.m. at 12th Avenue South and 14th Street. Police said her alcohol concentration was more than three times the legal limit for driving.

- A 59-year-old Fargo woman was injured when she made a left turn and failed to yield to another vehicle at 6:12 p.m. at Main Avenue and 21st Street South. The woman was taken by ambulance to MeritCare Hospital. Her condition was unknown.

- A 49-year-old Moorhead woman sustained minor head injuries when her bike collided with a van about 8:10 p.m. in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot. The woman, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was taken to Innovis Hospital. No citations were issued.
