Ag Matters column: Identifying, managing winter injuries in trees
Winter injury is seemingly a problem on certain trees each year in northern Minnesota. Winter injury is not a specific malady, by rather, a broad category that includes frost cracks, root or stem damage, winter browning, die back, and even plant death. It's usually more obvious on conifers, but all trees are susceptible to some degree of winter injury.
