Al Stigman to be inducted to Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame
The Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame (MABHOF) announced four new members to the Hall, including Perham's Al Stigman.
The other three inductees are: Mark Forsman (Dassel-Cokato), Dan Hoefs (Rochester/Arlington) and Ken Bitzan (Millerville/Parkers Prairie).
The four members of the 2014 class will be honored by the MABHOF Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Rivers Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud.
Stigman started playing organized baseball for Sebeka High School in 1950 as a freshman and he also played for the Nimrod town team at this time.
According to a bio provided by the MABHOF, Stigman played for Callaway in 1953. In 1954, he played for Perham; from 1955-1957 he played for New York Mills. In 1958 and 1959, Stigman was in the Army and stationed in Stuttgart, Germany; he pitched for the Army team. When he returned from the Army, he played for Perham from 1961-1977.
In 1985, Al returned to Senior baseball in Dent and played until 1997. From 1997-2001, he played Senior baseball for Perham.
He served as the honorary co-chair of the “Save the Ball Park” campaign in Perham which focused on the grandstand replacement that became Tuffy's Stadium at Al Krueger Field.
Stigman is active in the Knights of Columbus and his church. He is on the board of the St. James Manor, an elderly housing project.

The coach will pick up at any city along the way to St. Cloud. Those sites and approximate times will be announced at a future date.
