Alan B. Korth, 56, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, July 23, 2010 under the care of the staff at Frazee Care Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Alan was born the son of Melvin and Shirley (Pulvermacher) Korth on November 1, 1953 in Minot, N.D. He was raised and educated in Clintonville, Wis. Shortly after high school he moved to Frazee with his family, and Alan enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in 1975 and returned to Frazee.
Alan attended Minnesota State Technical College, receiving an associate's degree. He worked as a chef for Fair Hills Resort and the Holiday Inn. He later worked for Swift Company, until retiring due to his health.
Alan enjoyed camping, fishing and watching his beloved Green Bay Packers.
Surviving Alan are his mother, Shirley Korth of Frazee; two brothers, Brian (Barbara Ann) Korth of Detroit Lakes, and Calvin (Bonnie) Korth of Frazee; sister, Cheryl (Scott) Olson of Frazee; three nieces, three nephews and five great nieces and nephews.
Alan's father, Melvin, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 26, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 at St. John's Lutheran Church-Height of Land, rural Detroit Lakes.
