Albert H. Wagner, 93, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Albert H. Wagner was born to Charles and Lena (Getz) Wagner on April 23, 1917, in Barnesville, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Barnesville, and then farmed there with his dad.
Albert married Wilma Jordan on March 1, 1940 in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Arizona for three years and in 1943, moved to Barnesville, where they farmed until 1960 when they moved to Lake Park, where they continued farming. In 1965 they moved to Fertile, Minn., where they owned and operated the Fertile Coast to Coast store.
They retired in 1979 and moved to Big Cormorant Lake, where they lived for 10 years before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1989. For over 20 years they were fortunate enough to spend their winters in Mesa, Ariz. Wilma died on August 24, 2009, and Albert moved to the Lincoln Park Apartments in Detroit Lakes.
Albert loved hunting and fishing, going to lutefisk dinners, spending time with his family and friends, and gardening. His garden was the envy of the neighborhood.
Surviving Albert are two sons, Mark (Barbara) of Lake Park and Jim (Nancy) of Fertile; one daughter, Jacolyn "Jackie" Erickson of Fertile; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Jordan of Las Vegas, Nev.
Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; a daughter in infancy; three brothers, Charles, Raymond (Buzz), and Paul Wagner; and three sisters, Leona Edlund, Hazel Jordan and Helen Hanson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, with a 5 p.m. prayer service, in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with interment in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sabin, Minn.
