Alfred L. "Dudley" Moltzan, 82, of Frazee, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Alfred LaVerne Moltzan was born to Martin and Bertha (Kading) Moltzan on April 18, 1927, at their home near Vergas. He grew up and attended country school in Vergas, and worked in various jobs around the Vergas area. On Oct. 31, 1950, he married Betty Rusch at the Vergas parsonage. Alfred worked for Gigstead's Mink Ranch until later they moved to Pelican Rapids, where he worked for Flatin's Mink Ranch for many years. In 1971, they moved to Frazee, where Alfred worked for Ketter's Meats until he retired in 1988.
Alfred enjoyed working with horses, hunting, fishing, raising dogs and socializing with his buddies.
Surviving Alfred are his wife, Betty; four sons, Gary of Perham, David of Vergas, Ricky (Melissa) of Vergas and Ronny (Sonia) of Frazee; two daughters, Mary (Greg) Dahlgren and Sue (Tom) Schrupp, both of Vergas; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin (Sharon) Wischnak of Frazee; one sister, Leona Youngman of Coon Rapids, Minn.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Henry, Martin and William Moltzan and Rudy Wischnak; and daughter-in-law Laurie Moltzan.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 22 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, with the Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Frazee.
Arrangements are being provided by the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.
