Alice I. Dovre, 86, Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
Alice was born on Oct. 29, 1921, to Albert and Ella (Fingalson) Erickson in Detroit Lakes. She was raised and educated in the Detroit Township area. Alice was united in marriage to Conrad "Connie" Dovre on Sept. 12, 1940, in Westbury, Minn. They moved to Tacoma, Wash., during World War II to work in the shipyards. They returned to the Detroit Lakes area in 1945 and farmed on the family farm until 1966. Alice and Connie moved to Renton, Wash., to work for Boeing Aircraft. Alice worked in the Pacific Car and Foundry Cafeteria, which was part of Boeing. They retired in 1980 and returned to Detroit Lakes in 1981. They made their home on Little Floyd Lake. Connie died in April of 1994. Alice entered Emmanuel Nursing Home in 2004.
Alice was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Bakke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, crocheting and especially dancing.
Alice is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Linda) and Donald (Ellie), both of Detroit Lakes; a daughter, Sharon (Paul) Nasset, Gold Canyon, Ariz.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Marlys (Clarence) Hedlund, Detroit Lakes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Douglas, two grandsons, a great grandson and three brothers, Norris, Merlyn and Earl.
Funeral service is Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. in West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Interment is in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
