Alice Nodsle

June 10, 1917-March 11, 2013

Former Richwood res-ident Alice Jeanette Nodsle, 95, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Detroit Lakes.

Alice, the first child of Ernest and Ellen (Lidstrom) Glebe, was born on June 10, 1917 in the village of Richwood. Alice was a graduate of Detroit Lakes High School and Superior State Teachers College, leading to her teaching career that extended nearly forty years prior to her retirement in 1981.

Alice was married to Alfred Nodsle in 1948 at the Evangelical Church of Callaway. In later years she was active in Rich-wood Lutheran Church, where served as choir director for a period of time. She enjoyed travel-ing after retiring and al-ways had a love for mu-sic, confirmed by the beautiful piano sounds that would drift from her open windows on a sum-mer day.

Alice had been a resi-dent of Detroit Lakes since 2003, when she moved from her home in Richwood, first to the Madison, then The Cot-tages and Day Spa, both of the Ecumen-Emmanuel Community, and most recently, to Diamond Wil-low Assisted Living.

Alice will be missed by her son, Mike (Judy) Nodsle of Detroit Lakes; daughter, Aletta (Mike) Besse of Golden Valley; grandchildren, Chrissy Nodsle, Ryan Schoen and Julie (Dan) Aaker; step-grandchildren, Mike (Tracy) Besse Jr. and Jennifer Besse; great grandson, James Aaker; and step-great grandchil-dren, Tyler, Travis, Kay-la, Connor and Tanner.

Preceding Alice in death were her husband, Alfred (1968); brother, Lowell Glebe (2009); and sister, Leila Glass (2012).

In lieu of flowers, Alice would be most honored to have memorials made to Richwood Lutheran Church in her name. The family wishes to thank the staff at Diamond Wil-low, Hospice and all those who cared for Alice over the past several years. God bless each of you.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 18 at Richwood Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with interment in the church cemetery.
