Irene Alice Nordgulen, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Alice, the daughter of Adam and Bernice (McCabe) Keller, was born on January 12, 1926, in Centerville, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Centerville, graduating from Centerville High School.
Alice moved to Detroit Lakes in 1953. She worked at Schiller Insurance for over 30 years. She was united in marriage to Arthur Nordgulen in 1973.
Alice was active in the American legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Nutrition Center. She loved bowling and was very active with the Bowling Association in Detroit Lakes.
Surviving Alice are her two sons, Rick (Elaine) Wood of Coon Rapids and Ryan (LuAnn) Wood of Detroit Lakes; five grandchildren, Deanna (Mirek) Aleksandrowicz, Carrie (Rob) Olheiser, Brian (Katie) Wood, Jacob (Sandy) Wood and Patrick (Amanda) Wood; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 6 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 at Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
