Alice Rislund

Alice G. Rislund, 102, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.

Alice Gerda Rislund was born to Anton and Olivia (Arneson) Pederson on February 7, 1911 in Lake Eunice Township. She received her education at the District 78 Country School in Lake Eunice Township.

On April 20, 1929 she was united in marriage to Richard M. Rislund. In 1932 they built the Lake Center Store in rural Audubon. They owned and operated the store until October of 1961. Alice later worked at Norby's Department Store in Detroit Lakes for 8 years. She moved to the Park Manor Estates in Detroit Lakes in 1989 and became a resident at Oak Crossing in 2005.

Alice was very active at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed music, singing, baking, sewing and crochet.

Surviving Alice are her son, Marly Rislund of Audubon; two daughters, Kelly Eilertson of Audubon and Luaine (John) Warling of Lake Park; eight grandchildren, Mike (Judy) Eilertson, Shelley (David) Prentice, Cindy (Todd) Green, Denise (Tom) Taylor, Stephanie (David) Busack, Jennifer (Troy) Goering, Kristin (Marty Severson) Warling-Severson and Tony (Salena) Warling; 15 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard M. Rislund (1982); son, Richard L. Rislund; daughter-in-law, Diane Rislund; grandson, Eric Rislund; son-in-law, Jerain Eilertson; two brothers, Martin and Frank Pederson; two sisters, Alma Thompson and Bertha Steenerson; and her parents.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 16 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Audubon, with visitation for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
