Allegiant adding flights from Grand Forks to Orlando
Allegiant Air sent out an e-mail to air travelers this morning announcing that it is adding non-stop flight service between Grand Forks and the Orlando area starting on Nov. 17.
The leisure carrier's Web site also lists Orlando-Sanford airport (SFB) as a destination from Grand Forks beginning in November.
"We are extremely excited for the announcement of direct service from Grand Forks to Orlando-Sanford," said Grand Forks International Airport Executive Director Patrick Dame in a news release sent out to the media following the announcement. "Orlando has been our most requested city from our customers, within our region, and from our friends in Winnipeg. The new route will be extremely successful and we appreciate the partnership we have with Allegiant to be able to provide our customers sunny destinations like Orlando."
Allegiant is offering a limited one-way introductory fare of $94.99 to Orlando-Sanford. Tickets must be purchased by Sept. 7 and used between Nov. 17 and Feb. 14, 2012.
The new flights will run twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, departing from GFK at 3:40 p.m. and arriving at SFB at 8:10 p.m. Return flights will leave Orlando at 11:55 a.m. and arrive in Grand Forks at 2:50 p.m.
The Grand Forks International Airport held a press conference to announce the new service at 11 a.m. today at the new Byron L. Dorgan Terminal.
Allegiant already offers twice weekly service between Grand Forks and Las Vegas and the Phoenix area.
