Former Cedar Rapids, Iowa resident Alma B. Roman, 99, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
A mass of Christian burial was held Friday, January 15 at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with interment in St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Alma Bertha Dahnalek was born to Joseph and Amelia (Novak) Dahnalek on November 3, 1910 in Lynn County, near Cedar Rapids. She was raised on a farm in Lynn County and graduated from high school in 1928. Alma was united in marriage to Ernest Roman on September 15, 1934 in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, where she worked for Collins Radio. She retired in 1972. Ernest died in 1999 and Alma moved to Detroit Lakes in 2001.
Alma enjoyed baking, deserts and raising African violets.
Surviving Alma are a daughter, Beverly (Joseph) Horacek of Detroit Lakes; two grandchildren, Cindy (Dave) Kingrey and Richard (Lisa) Horacek; four great grandchildren, Grace and Sarah Kingrey, Quinn and Avery Horacek; and a sister, Gladys Peterson of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her husband, Ernest, Alma was preceded in death by a brother, William Dohnalek.
Arrangements were entrusted to David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
