Al was born on Aug. 19, 1924, in Linton, N.D., the son of Melchoir and Theresia (Schneider) Wagner. Al had the honor of serving in the United States Army from 1944 to 1947. Following his service, he was united in marriage to Irene Krumm on Nov. 19, 1947. After farming in Linton, Al and family made their home in West Fargo, N.D. Years later they moved to Phoenix, and upon retirement, Al and Irene chose to live on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids. In 2005, they moved from the lake to their home in Moorhead. Al's career was as a heavy diesel mechanic. He worked locally for Muscatell and Wallworks and in the same field while in Phoenix. Everyone knew of Al's love for tinkering, as in small engine repair, bicycles, and in fact, anything mechanical.
