Sept. 9, 1924-Sept. 2, 2014
Alton Irving Lunde, 89, of Lake Park, passed away at home with family on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
Alton was born to Severt and Carrie (Raun) Lunde on September 9, 1924, on the family farm. He grew up on the farm, and attended country school before continuing his education at Ulen High School. Following high school he farmed until enlisting with the Merchant Marines, where he served overseas during World War II.
Alton then moved back to Ulen to farm with family. On November 19, 1955, he married Marian Roen in Alexandria. Together they made their home, the Lake Park Children's Home, and farmed, near Lake Park.
Alton loved farming and was able to enjoy their time on the farm until moving in to town in 2003. He continued to farm up to the age of 85 while working various jobs over the past few years with Swift Co., David Larson Farms and Mattson Farms.
Alton was a very genuine person who enjoyed spending time and helping others. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and dancing, but most of all loved his time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alton is survived by his wife, Marian; sons, Brian (Shelly) Lunde and Bruce (Leanna) Lunde; grandchildren, Jamie Lunde, Jessie (Darcy) Burnside, Lee Ann (Nick) Buttino, Brandon Lunde, Jacob Lunde and Caleb Lunde; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Gavin and Tenley Burnside; and brother, Harold (Lorraine) Lunde.
His parents and brother, Stanley, preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 in Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with a memorial gathering for one hour prior to services in the church.
