Former Detroit Lakes resident Alyce Darlene Hillman, 74, of Ramsey, Minn., died Monday, September 6, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn.
Alyce was born the daughter of Daniel and Alma Warter on May 3, 1936 in Perham. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Roger Hillman on December 26, 1962 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee. She worked at various jobs in Detroit Lakes.
The family moved to New Rockford, N.D., in 1964, returning to Detroit Lakes in 1969. They purchased a farm north of Detroit Lakes in 1971 and raised turkeys. They sold the farm in 1979 and moved back to town. Alyce worked for Dakota Clinic, where she retired in 1999. Roger and Alyce moved to Ramsey in 2008.
Alyce was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks, Eagles and Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her hobbies included fishing, hunting, reading and traveling with her husband, Roger.
Preceding Alyce preceded in death were her parents; brother Martin Warter; and husband Roger (February 2010)
Surviving Alyce are her three sons, Roger (Anne) Hillman, Jr. of Billings, Mont., Terry Ouart of Dilworth, Minn., and Kenneth (Dawneld) Ouart of Zimmerman, Minn.; two daughters, Kim Hillman of Missoula, Mont., and Janelle (Dan) Disrud of Champlin, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Sign Fund at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services at the church.
