The aurora borealis or northern lights were visible Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. This 30-second exposure was taken looking over Sands Lake north of Detroit Lakes about 1 a.m. Wednesday. To the naked eye, these lights just appeared as a dull glow along the northern horizon.
