Up-and-coming singer to offer Perham concert
There is a young musical star rising in Perham, and you’d better catch his performance while you can.
Patrick Murphy is one of the featured events during Turtle Fest at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham on Thursday, June 19.
With incredible talent and support of his family, Patrick has a great chance at a professional music career- as soon as he finishes high school next year.
“When I first heard Patrick play, I was amazed at the sound,” said Darla Ellingson, History and Cultural Association (HACA) CEO and producer of the concert. “His dad explained to me that Patrick hears the notes of all the instruments of a song, so while he is primarily playing the piano, the song includes notes of a full band. It’s really different.”
At 12 years old, Patrick performed his first solo concert, played at his first paid gig, and won the 2010 Minnesota State Fair County Fair Talent Contest. Patrick has played at many area venues and is usually joined by his brother Mark. The ITOW event will mark the first time Patrick’s complete band will perform. The group will perform classic pop, current pop and current country.
HACA has teamed up with the Perham Lions to bring you the Patrick Murphy concert. The Lions will be offering food, beer and wine coolers, with proceeds benefiting Camp Casey, which provides horseback riding programs for kids with cancer.
The concert and dance will be held in the ITOW Museum Gallery, 805 W. Main in Perham. The event is open to all ages. Suggested donation for admission is $6 per person or $10 per couple, and includes a chance to win door prizes from HACA.
This event was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. For more information, call 218-346-7678.
