Angels clinch Hi-10 West title
The Detroit Lakes Angels clinched the Hi-10 West League title Wednesday night at Washington Ballpark, but had to put in a little extra work to do so.
The Angels were trailing 4-3 to visiting New York Mills heading into the bottom of the eighth, before pinch hitter Kyle Singer ripped a single, in what started the eventual game-winning rally.
Connor McLeod fell down in the count 0-2, but saved grace by lining a single to score Singer in what turned out to be the game-winning run, a two-run double.
McLeod also picked up the win in relief, while Bryan Buhr started by pitching 4.2 of scoreless innings. Trevor Tappe earned the save after he stranded two New York Mills’ runners.
The Angels will open Hi-10 playoff action Saturday against either Frazee, Wadena-Deer Creek or Bertha at Washington Ballpark.
