Angels fall to Dent

The Detroit Lakes Angels traveled to Perham Saturday and suffered a 5-2 loss to the Pirates.

Detroit Lakes only managed two runs on six hits off of Pirate starter Tyler Doll.

Reed Oistad hit a two-run homer, with Connor McLeod on base to provide the only runs for the Angels.

Perham scored two runs off of Angel starter Derek Zitzow, who was making his first amateur appearance for the Angels.

Zitzow pitched five innings and struck out seven.

Chris Gilson took the loss, as he gave up three unearned runs over the final three innings on five hits and a walk.

Connor McLeod was 2-4 for the Angels, while Taylor Fuhs, Trevor Tappe and Ryan Berg collected the other Angel hits.

Dent tips Detroit Lakes

The Angels hosted the Dent Wildcats Sunday afternoon and suffered a 7-5 loss.

The visitors were able to key the victory with three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh, while being outhit by a 14-8 margin.

The Angels (2-3) scored two in the second inning on a two-run single by Trevor Tappe, which scored Doug Dickey and Connor McLeod.

The Angels added two in the fifth to go up 4-0, as Taylor Fuhs and Reed Oistad had RBI singles to score Phil Kirchner and Mark Gulseth.

The Wildcats started the comeback in the top of the sixth, as they scored three runs off of Angel starter Bryan Buhr.

Andy Kratzke and Jeff Guck each had RBI singles in the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Angel reliever Connor McLeod surrendered four runs.

Eric Weller had an RBI single and Jeff Guck had a two-run single for the Wildcats as Dent built a 7-4 lead.

The Angels scored the final run of the game in bottom of the eighth, as Derek Zitzow walked and scored on an RBI single by Jon Gilson to cut the lead to 7-5, but that was as close as the Angels would get.

Buhr started and pitched six strong innings for the Angels, while McLeod took the loss.

David Stoll went six for the Wildcats and picked up the win, and Weller picked up the save pitching the final three frames.

Tappe went 3-5 with two RBIs for the Angels, while Isaac Stool, Weller and Guck each had two safeties for the Wildcats.

The Angels will host the Fargo Mets tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. and Wolf Lake Saturday at 2 p.m.
