Angels lose heartbreaker to end state tourney run

Email News Alerts

Down 4-1, the The Detroit Lakes Angels amateur baseball team rallied with six runs in the eighth inning to build a 7-4 lead, but they couldn't hold on and the game slipped away to end in a heartbreaking 8-7 loss to the Sauk Rapids Cyclones Sunday evening in Hamburg.

It was the second big comeback in as many games for the Angels, but the scrappy Sauk Rapids team made a comeback of their own to end Detroit Lakes' run in the Class C division of the State Tournament.
