Angels take one on chin in loss to Moorhead
After two consecutive games where the Detroit Lakes Angels had no trouble scoring runs, it was their turn to watch the opposing team stroll across home plate.
The Moorhead Brewers blasted the Angels 14-1 Saturday afternoon at Washington Ballpark.
The Brewers tallied 18 hits, with Mike Peschel leading the offense with a 5-for-5 day at the plate. Peschel scored four runs and had four RBI.
Moorhead manager Ryan Olson went 4-for-5, scored four runs and brought in three runs.
The Brewers got out to a 4-0 lead by the fourth before Jake Kiebke's RBI single scored Matt Huberty in the bottom of the fourth for Detroit Lakes' lone run.
Another four runs came for Moorhead in the sixth before it closed out the game by scoring five in the ninth.
Detroit Lakes' (2-2) defense didn't help matters as it committed six errors.
Jon Tolbert picked up the loss as he went four innings. Bryan Buhr and Matt Huberty pitched three and two innings, respectively, in relief.
Corey Trick earned the win for Moorhead as he went six innings.
Detroit Lakes takes on the Bluffton Braves tonight at Washington Ballpark at 7:30 p.m. The Angels are on the road at Pelican Rapids on Saturday and New York Mills on Sunday.
