Ann Gravelle

Ann M. Gravelle, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Ann Marie Zurn was born to Joseph and Doris (Spry) Zurn on Sept. 16, 1929 in Callaway. She was raised and educated near Callaway, and graduated from Waubun High School. Ann attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She married Earl Gravelle Jan. 28, 1956 in Callaway.

During her working life, Ann was employed by the Accounting Office at North Dakota State University, at the Becker County Extension Office in Detroit Lakes, at Lakes Processing and the Seventh Day Adventist Church Thrift Store. Earl died Oct. 27, 1991.

Ann was a member of Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, traveling and camping.

Surviving Ann are her children, Sandra Gravelle of Fargo, Joseph (Doris) Gravelle of Detroit Lakes, Doreen (Doug) Klomstad of Harwood, N.D., Dean "Char" Gravelle of Detroit Lakes, Steve (Kathy) Gravelle of Detroit Lakes, Patty (Mark) Nelson of Detroit Lakes, Bonnie (Ross) Kunz of Erhard, Kathy (Wayne) Crawford of Detroit Lakes, Dan (Stacy) Gravelle of Detroit Lakes and Randy Gravelle, also of Detroit Lakes; 22 grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Ken) Otto of Mahnomen; brothers, Gene (Sue) Zurn of Shoreview, Minn., Damian (Carol) Zurn of Detroit Lakes and Ken (Shirley) Zurn of Fargo; as well as her sister-in-law, Doris Zurn of Brooklyn Center, Minn.

Preceding Ann in death were her husband, Earl; brothers, Cornelius and Roderick; sister Ardelle Beck as well as six infant sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the start of services Friday at the church.

A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Richwood.
