Arctic Cat recalls nearly 1,400 ATVs over steering issue
Talk about it Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls has issued a safety recall for nearly 1,400 ATVs because of a potential crash hazard.
The company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that the steering tie-rod can bend, which could cause loss of control.
Arctic Cat has received three reports of bent tie-rods, but no injuries were reported.
The recall includes all 2011 and some 2012 Arctic Cat 2012 XC 450 ATVs. The 1,384 black and orange or black and lime green ATVs were sold nationwide since February 2011 for $6,500 to $6,900.
The 2012 model year ATVs included in the recall can be identified by the last six numerals of the vehicle identification number in the following ranges: 6V0101 through 6V0178 and 700101 through 700230. The VIN is located on the lower front frame tube below the front bumper.
Consumers are asked to immediately stop using these ATVs and contact their local Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair.
