Area farmers markets
The Lakes Area Farmers Market will be hosting a Customer Appreciation Day on Aug. 18, with Sue Doeden giving a cooking demonstration using products from the farmers market. This year, it's entitled "Honey and Herbs" and begins at 11 a.m.
Located in Peoples Park behind Zorbaz, the farmers market has switched sides of the street to be closer to the city's warming house -- and its bathrooms, picnic tables and electricity.
It is also be a better location for the food demonstrations they will be hosting this season.
The market also hosted one food demonstration, and will have another on July 28 with Marsha Parker, Essentia Health St. Mary's nutritionist.
Other area farmers markets include the Detroit Lakes Farmers Market, located in the Boys & Girls Club Thrift Store parking lot, is open Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and Tuesdays from 2-6:30 p.m. Contact info: 218-334-5307.
