SkyWarn Storm Spotter class
Becker County Emergency Management hosts a SkyWarn Storm Spotter class, put on by the National Weather Service, at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Board Room of the Becker County Courthouse. Thursday, April 10
Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. There will be a short business meeting followed by a research & social hour. The meeting is open to the public, and anyone interested in researching their family history is invited to attend.
The fifth grade student/parent orientation open house for Detroit Lakes Middle School is from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be a half-hour program in the George Simson Auditorium, and then parents and students may tour the building and meet teachers.
Community Concert Band
The Lakes Area Community Concert Band rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Senior High band room. Doors will be open by 6:30. Gene Gaffney is director. There are openings in all sections. The first meeting of the year of COLA meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Minnesota State Community & Technical College-Detroit Lakes for refreshments, followed by the meeting of Becker COLA Lake Association representatives at 7, and at 7:30, the program will feature Eric Lindberg, Environmental Sentry Protection, LLC of Plymouth, Minn.
Saturday, April 12
First Lutheran Church, Audubon, hosts a Spring supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Adults are $7.50, ages 5-15 are $3.50, and children 4 and under are free.
Hawley Lutheran Church hosts a salad luncheon and craft and bake sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fifth Annual Family Carnival of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is welcome. There will be games for all ages. Money raised will be used to support the preschool/daycare.
PEO Chapter FG
P.E.O. Chapter FG meets at 9:30 a.m. in the home of Sandy Sprafka. Serving as co-hostess will be Mary Nordmark and Sue Eidenschink. Sandy Sprafka will be presenting the program.
All Pro Dads Breakfast
Join preschoolers and their dads (moms welcome, too) for this special dad and child event. Start with a free breakfast, followed by a parent and child activity and then door prizes. The event is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. through the door No. 17 at the Frazee elementary school. Call 334-2525 to register.

The Lake Park Lions Club hosts a Spring Brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lake Park City Center. Profits support the scholarship fund and youth activities.
Old time dance
The Old Timers Dance Club sponsors an old time dance every Sunday in April from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Rockin' Horse Cafe in Richville.
Swedish society meeting
The Swedish Cultural Heritage Society of the Red River Valley holds their Spring meeting at 4 p.m. in the Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, N.D. The guest speaker will be Elise Peters from the Swedish Council of America. Swedish pancakes will be served, and a donation of $5 per person is suggested for the supper. Everyone is welcome.
Youth pancake breakfast
Bakke, Richwood and Lund church host a youth pancake breakfast fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. It is a free-will offering. Proceeds benefit mission trip to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

Spring Arts Festival
The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival is April 10-11 in the Frazee High School, located in the Green Gym. April 10 from 7-9 p.m., it is open to students, their families and the general public. On April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, it is open for Frazee School staff to view and teachers are encouraged to bring their classes to tour art displays. The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival is an opportunity to view displays of 2-D and 3-D art made by K-12 grade students.
Health issues for women
The Community Relations Committee of St. Mary's Regional Health Center Foundation hosts "Health Care Issues for the Mature Woman" on Thursday, April 17, at noon in St. Mary's conference rooms A and B. Speaker is Dr. Talitha Sannes-Venhuizen, Innovis Health. This presentation is for women who want to know about health issues directly related to them. To RSVP by April 10, call 844-0719.

LP-A Day of Caring
The United Way of Becker County joins the Lake Park-Audubon High School to provide a Community Day of Caring May 7. Senior citizens, disabled residents and non-profit organizations within the LP-A school district are eligible to receive volunteer assistance from the students and staff. Project registration forms are available at local churches, Lake Park City Center, Audubon City offices, the Cormorant Store or call the high school at 238-5916. Forms are due April 25.
Wendy with Ojibwe Custom Beadwork holds a Lampwork Bead Making class Saturday, April 12, in the Country Charm store at Washington Square Mall. Class will be held from 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Cost is $25 and includes all supplies needed to make a bead or possible two if time permits.
