Area musicians to be featured at Holmes jam sessions
Starting this Sunday, Sept. 29 and continuing through the end of April, Detroit Lakes’ Historic Holmes Theatre will begin offering monthly “jam sessions” to encourage collaboration and camaraderie among local musicians.
Each session will run from 2 to 5 p.m. inside the Holmes Ballroom.
Experienced musicians Pam Longtine (traditional fiddle), John Hutchinson, aka “Mr. Jack” (blues, rockabilly and classic rock) and Tim Eggebraaten (acoustic guitarist/vocalist, classic hits) will be taking turns heading up the sessions; Longtine will lead the inaugural session on Sunday.
Additional jam sesions will be held on the last Sunday of each month, as follows: Oct. 27, Nov. 24, Jan. 26, Feb. 23, March 30 and April 27 (there will be no December session).
All levels of experience are welcome to come together and enjoy meeting other area musicians as they participate in jamming out tunes of various genres from American and Scandinavian old-time to country, blues, classic rock, pop and more.
All instruments are welcome (including vocalists). Mark your calendar, bring your instrument, find your style and join the fun…it’s free!
