Arlene L. Braun, 78, Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in St. Mary's Innovis Health, Detroit Lakes.
Arlene Lois Braun was born May 19, 1930, in Devils Lake, N.D., to Arthur E. and Mabel (Smith) Porter. She was a 1953 graduate of Ada High School. Arlene was united in marriage with Felix Braun June 15, 1954, in Callaway. They farmed in Hamden Township, rural Audubon, until 1996 when she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. Arlene moved to Bovey, Minn., in 1997, and later that year she moved to Marbel, Minn. She moved to Detroit Lakes in 2002. Felix died in 1993.
Arlene loved flower gardening, horses, spending time with family and life on the farm.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Karen (Thomas) Riggle, Ponsford, Nancy Feltus of St. Paul; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie DuChene, Ada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix; daughter, Diana; sons, Robert and Edward; and one brother in infancy.
The Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, May 4, at 1 p.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, with Father Jerry Rogers officiating.
Visitation is Sunday, May 3, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 5 p.m. prayer service, in the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Callaway.
