Arnold O. Engen, 84, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Arnold was born the son of Oscar and Annie (Hollevoet) Engen on April 19, 1926, in the Strand Township of Gary, Minn. He was raised and educated in rural Gary. Arnold served in the United States Army from November 1944 to November 1946. He was united in marriage to Marvel Nelson on July 31, 1955. They made their home in rural Detroit Lakes, where they farmed for 35 years. In 1990, they moved to Detroit Lakes.
Arnold was a member of Bakke Lutheran Church. During his retirement years, he enjoyed restoring his Farmall H Tractor.
Surviving Arnold are his brother, Leonard (Linda) Engen of Gary; sister-in-law, Carol Engen of Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marvel (2004); brother, Donald; and two sisters, Lorraine Engen and Mildred Werpy.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22 at Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services.
