Asphalt scam popping up in Polk County
The Polk County Sheriff's Office has received several complaints regarding an asphalt company working in the Red River Valley, officials said.
Several county residents have been approached by a member of the company, who told them the company has extra asphalt from a job down the road and they would be willing to do their driveway at a reduced cost.
The company then will lay down a load of asphalt, bill a higher amount than originally quoted and then demand a much higher amount to complete the job. The company claims to be from Duluth, but could not provide an address or a business license, officials said, and another resident was told the company was from Eagan, Minn.
