Auditions for DLHS fall musical open Sept. 2
Detroit Lakes Public Schools is pleased to announce that auditions for its 2014 fall musical, “You’re In Town (Urinetown),” will open Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Winner of three 2002 Tonys, “You’re In Town (Urinetown),” a comedy musical that satirizes musical comedies, is a tale of love, greed and revolution.
As a result of a terrible water shortage, private toilet facilities are unthinkable and all restroom activities are handled through a private corporation.
People are forced to pay to use the facilities; of course, people rebel against this oppression.
Enter our hero, Bobby Strong, a poor restroom attendant, who proceeds to fall in love with the rich daughter of the corporation’s CEO and who leads the poor in rebellion.
Songs range from the romantic “Follow Your Heart” to the rousing gospel “Run, Freedom, Run.”
“You’re In Town (Urinetown)” is a sharp-witted riot of a show that will have the audience clapping for the underdogs, booing the tyrants and cheering for love and hope.
