Audubon man gets jail for stolen checks
An Audubon man was sentenced for trying to pass off stolen checks.
Mark Patrick Leendertsen, 35, was sentenced to 45 days in jail, five years of supervised probation and a $1,000 fine for his felony conviction.
According to the court report, authorities received a call from a rural Becker County resident September 30, 2013 that claimed to have had 11 check blanks stolen.
The checks had been written out to total $1,776.
Investigators found that Leendertsen, who was working inside the resident’s house during the time of the theft, had unlawfully written them out to somebody he owed money to, trying to pass them off as payment for work.
