Audubon man gets prison time for drugs
Wade Allen Erickson, 42, of 12964 East Arrow Lake Road, Audubon has been sentenced to more than five years in prison on a felony charge of first-degree controlled substance crime, possession.
According to court records, on April 16 an agent with the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force received a tip that Erickson would be driving to the Twin Cities to pick up illegal drugs.
Undercover officers followed him to north St. Paul and back to Clearwater, where they lost him and picked him up again on Otter Tail County Road 9.
When they pulled his vehicle over on Becker County Road 11 and searched him, they allegedly found 17.1 grams of methamphetamines wrapped in a plastic bag in one boot and 20.4 grams of meth in his other boot. He allegedly admitted he drove to St. Paul to pick up 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 ounces of meth for $3,300.
He appeared Wednesday before District Judge Peter Irvine, who sentenced him to 68 months in prison, with credit for time served in jail. He was fined $50 plus court fees, to be taken from prison earnings.
The court recommends he be considered for a boot camp program.
