Autism awareness 5K run/walk is set for Aug. 12 in Mahnomen
In conjunction with the Communities Collaborative Brain Development Conference held Aug. 12-14 at the Shooting Star Casino Event Center, a 5k Come Walk/Run for Autism Awareness event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 4 p.m., beginning at the Golden Eagle Bingo Hall in Mahnomen.
The event is open to the public. Conference participants may register at the conference and non-conference participants may register on-site. Non-conference participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to the Mahnomen Helping Hands Food Bank.

If you can't participate in the walk/run, come and cheer them on. There will be a Craziest Fan/Cheerer Contest. A prize will be awarded to the craziest or most creative fan that cheers the 5k-walk/run participants. Routes will be posted on the day of the event.
For those who wish to participate in raising funds to start the White Earth Reservation Autism Association, go to our website to print off a pledge sheet. A prize will be awarded for the person with the highest pledge. Proceeds will be used to initiate the Association and purchase therapeutic equipment and resources for families who live on or near the White Earth Reservation.
